Reflecting on Addiction

I was doing some reflecting on what I said about the term “addiction” and wanted to touch on it. I have, like I said before, strong views perhaps more than others understand. I was put on a higher level of accountability than perhaps others can handle. Like I have said before, I don’t really mix due to my perspective that holds true to me, not you. I do respect another’s needs and will not entertain around those who are in recovery. I applaud anyone who chooses to abstain to better their life.

In this age of cancel culture, fragility, sensitivity, culture differences some may choose to abstain due to values and needs. Intoxicants are better around those you trust to celebrate safely with broad judgement. Not everyone can, chooses to or agrees with it. I completely understand.

This blog is about building a fabulous life and to do that it comes down to, it is your life to create. That doesn’t happen keeping up with the neighbors, kissing ass, people pleasing, etc. It comes from laying the foundation, creating the boundaries and investing in the quality of life you choose to create. I don’t expect to or need to be agreed with. Glean what blesses you and leave the rest.

In everything, it is important to be happy no matter who agrees with your lifestyle and choices. I am stronger in judgement and may come across as harsh. I have had to. That doesn’t mean you need to or should. Telling our truths about how we see topics allows broader thought. If we all live the same and think the same we are robots.

To those in recovery, I applaud you for walking away from anything that harmed you. Some are more sensitive to intoxicants than others. For others the intoxicant is healing. The same medicine can be a poison to someone else. You decide what adds value to your life and that is what should be important…. adding value.
