Diet

I went through my cookbooks. I have cookbooks of every type of diet and have been healthy with every diet. I’m just grateful for food. We decided to go vegetarian for a while. Not for animal reasons, just health. 2026 we were going to focus on self care and self improvement. Decided going vegetarian would be a refreshing change for us. This homestead is not an animal sanctuary. Animals are livestock here, not pets. We are intentional with our animals and enjoy them.

I’ve been vegan in the past and had blood tests to check if it was nutritious. Blood tests said we met all dietary needs and the doctor said keep doing what we are doing. We used a food diary to track macros. What I learned in a nutrition class I took was the body utilizes the protein it needs and the rest turns into carbs. Carbs turn into energy and sugar. If you don’t burn the energy through exercise and activity, the sugar can turn into health issues due to it not utilized as energy. My body just feels like taking a break. I do have fun cooking different diets and have missed experimenting with this diet more.

We are trying every day to be more natural. One thing we have added was compostable replacements. We make most of our cleaners and when we replace an item we try to go more natural. Recently we added sponges that we can add to our compost instead of trash. Use my link so we both get savings:
