#ThrowbackThursday Caution to sensitive readers.

We practiced working on a homestead when we lived in the suburbs. We have worked in a Slaughter House so we know something about agribusiness so we see things broader. On this Throwback Thursday I wanted to highlight swine we raised. We bought a group of piglets and raised them until some were BBQ size. We sold off a few BBQ size pigs to help pay for the 2 hogs we decided to keep and raise as Top Hogs. The swine got apples, rose hips, corn and helped till the garden. When they got out of control, destructive we had them for dinner.

Here they are in my garden.

At the slaughterhouse

They are ready for us to butcher and put in freezer camp.

I have a previous post about hoping for hogs on this homestead. What we are doing now on the homestead is instead of the livestock going to the slaughter house, we will cull and process them here on the homestead and compost what would go to rendering.
